Kara is the home of the Fletchers Group food service business. Providing easy access to various bakery products for UK and European food service customers. Kara distributes to more than 300 wholesalers and end-users based in the UK, as well as exporting to countries such as France, Denmark, Portugal, Spain and Cyprus.
The Manchester site opened in 1985 as a burger bun factory and is still recognised for the quality of its frozen buns and rolls today. Kara also manufactures a range of teacakes and doughballs.
As a market-orientated business, Kara has a strong focus on new product development and is heavily involved in market research to create new or improved niche products.
Kara’s focus on changing trends and customer demand for niche products has seen it introduce seasonal products such as limited edition Cranberry and Orange Teacakes.
Kara now has more than 150 employees and the site has a multimillion pound turnover.
The Business Unit also supplies a variety of end-user operators direct including Hotels, Pub and Restaurant chains.
