LBD was established in 1991 initially as a bake-off site for M&S frozen baguettes.
Over the last two decades, Barnsley-based LBD has built up a national distribution business with a multimillion pound turnover supplying retail customers, in-store bakeries and food service customers.
LBD’s product range now includes Speciality Italian Breads – such as Focaccia, Pannini and Ciabatta - Buns and Rolls and Fruited Loaves, focusing on premium products that need that extra bit of care and attention.
The LBD team consistently delivers premium quality products based on authentic recipes and offers flexibility across production, packing and product type – a customer-focused strategy that has led to significant growth in turnover in the last three years.
LBD is committed to an ongoing Quality Improvement programme to enhance employees’ awareness of products and processes, their knowledge of Italian bread manufacture and the development of skills in recognising the feel, texture and importance of moulding, stretching and handling the delicate doughs.
LBD’s approach also includes value-added processes including slow fermentation methods, hand-finished products, mixed packing and the use of stone-baked ovens.
